I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will guide you with My eye.
Psalm 32:8 (NKJV)
Bobby missed the boys soccer game on Saturday. He was camping with the other Cub Scout leaders; they go through a yearly training event, to be kept up to date on all the latest Cub Scout news.
So I was soccer mom, and I didn’t mind it a bit. I like to watch the soccer games. It’s fast paced and fun, always exciting.
One of the things the coaches have been impressing upon the boys this season is to stay in their positions. They all have a designated place to play from, and the coaches are trying to encourage them to stay in those spots. Too often, the boys run helter skelter everywhere, and then when the ball comes to where they are supposed to be, they aren’t there and they miss the shot.
Well, on Saturday, Carson very diligently stayed in his designated position, and as a result he scored two goals! The ball came right to him, and he kicked it right into the goal.
It was the coolest thing! He was so excited to call Bobby after the game and shout, “I scored two goals Dad!” And Bobby was sorry he’d missed it!
I was thinking about how we all have a purpose, a position that we are to fill for God. There is a space that we are to fill … to complete His goal. And so many times we are so busy running around doing our own thing, we totally miss the shot.
My goal, no pun intended, or maybe … is to find the spot that God has designated just for me and to stay grounded there so I can help score the goal for the King’s Team, when the ball comes to me!
Father, thank you for allowing Carson to do so well at the game last week. Thank you for boosting his self esteem with these goals and for showing him that when he does as instructed, it works! And Lord, help me to not get sidetracked from the position you have for me.
I Love You Jesus.
In Your Name I Pray,
God Bless You!
