Jesus answered, “Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks the water I give him will never thirst.
Indeed, the water I give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life.
It is very dry here in Naples right now. Winter is always a dryer season, but it seems every year it becomes more so! I can’t remember the last time it rained, except for a quick shower yesterday morning. But it seemed to be over before it even started. I have been noticing that my palms trees are getting really thirsty. We have 16 Royal Palms lining our driveway. They are my babies. We planted them 12 years ago and now they are huge! It took a lot of work to get them to this point, but in the last few years, they have been pretty much on their own. I’ve not had to tend to them much. They are strong and nature has provided for them.
But they needed a drink today. I could see it in their leaves. So I pulled out the 200 feet of hose and watered them. I’ve come too far with those trees to not make sure they survive through this dry season. It will take more than one drink to keep them thriving, but they are worth the effort.
As I was out there watering them today, I started thinking about how sometimes our spirits get dry. Maybe our schedules start getting hectic and we end up skipping our 15 minute morning devotional time. Or every time we start to pray about the issue that is bothering us, the phone or the door bell rings, or the kids need our attention.
Or maybe we want to get started back in church, but every Sunday there seems to be something else more important on our schedule. And the next thing we know – we feel dry and empty inside. We are missing out on the living water that only comes from spending time with God and fellowshipping with other Believers!
I encourage you today … take the time to hook up your hose to God! Let His Living Word flow through you and revitalize and refresh your spirit.
You are worth the effort!
Father, I will never stop being in AWE of You and how quickly You refresh and revitalize! Lord, thank You for giving us New Life through You!
I Love You Jesus.
In Your Name I Pray,
God Bless You!
