Things Will Change

“Four leprous men…said to one another, ‘Why do we sit here until we die?…Let us go over to the camp of the Arameans. If they spare us, we will live; and if they kill us, we will but die.'” – – 2 Kings 7:3-4 (NASB).

Why do we sit here until we die?  That is a good question.  Many of us are still stuck in the same situation we were five years ago, ten years ago.  We struggle with the same addictions, the same bad habits, the same problems.  Yet we sit in the mess, wringing our hands, hoping, wishing, praying, that it will change.  Maybe the devil has even told us that things will never change, that we will never change.  Don’t listen to that lie!

Believe that God will do what He said in His Word.  Speak the promises over the situation.  Do it until they change.  And no matter how it may appear, remember when the Word is applied to a situation, it must eventually change…for the good.

The “four men with leprosy at the entrance of the city gate” to Samaria (see II Kings 7:1) were seated there because Pentateuchal law excluded persons with skin diseases from residence in the community (Leviticus 13:46 and prior, Numbers 5:1-3).
