Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”
We’ve had Vacation Bible School all week at our church. It has been a wonderful time of sharing the love of Jesus with the kids. Tonight the theme was Jesus’ death and resurrection. We told the kids about why God sent Jesus to the earth, how the religious folks of that time crucifed Him and then, how He rose from the dead three days later. One of the little girls asked me why Jesus died for us. I thought I would share my response to her with you:
God lives in Heaven. There can be no sin in Heaven. Even though we try to be good, we can never be good enough for God. Sin seperates us from God. But Jesus is the door, between God and man. When we knock on that door and ask Jesus to forgive us of our sins and ask Him to come into our heart and into our lives and help us be the kind of people that He wants us to be, well, at that point, Jesus throws open the door and allows us access to God, The Father. And when we die, we will be in Heaven with Him.
Ten or eleven little children knocked on that door tonight and asked Jesus into their hearts.
How cool is that?
Father, thank You that You sent Your son, to die on the cross for our sins. Thank You that You loved us first. And thank You for all those special little kids tonight who gave their hearts to You. I ask You to water that seed that was planted in each of them, to bring forth great fruit for Your kingdom!
I Love You Jesus.
In Your Name I Pray,
God Bless You!
